One Week Update

Today we took Rudy for his first check up. He lost some weight before we left the hospital last week (not sure how much) but has since gained it back plus some! He weighed 8 lbs 3 oz today! That is almost a whole pound more than when he was born! I am so not accustomed to a baby that grows fast! Since Raeleigh has Down syndrome she has always been on the smaller side. She weighed 7 lbs 3 oz when she was born and only weighed 8 lbs 9 oz when she had surgery at 4 months old! Now she is up to 26 lbs and I have a feeling Rudy will catch up with her faster than I would prefer!

Raeleigh is adjusting so well! She is constantly kissing Rudy and trying to comfort him! She will hold his little hands or pat him when he cries and she loves to give him his paci. I am so glad she loves him! We were really worried about how she would react.

Here are a couple pictures from our first week home :)

Natural Childbirth...

If you have never watched this or this I highly recommend it! It is one of my favorites of Bill Cosby and it took on a whole new meaning on Tuesday :)

Tuesday morning we arrived at the hospital around 7:30. We finally started the Pitocin at 9:30. I was feeling a few pains but nothing major. My OB came in to check me at 12:30. I was 3cm and he decided to go ahead and break my water. I was just fine and not feeling any more pain than before until about 45 minutes later. The first hard contraction hit me (this was the first real contraction I had EVER felt! I never felt anything with Raeleigh) and I almost came out of the bed! I had 2 more back to back and the nurse came in to check me. I was already at 7cm!! I told them I needed my epidural NOW! She called my OB and he was there to check me 10 minutes later. He immediately said to break down the bed! I was hysterical...I knew I wasn't getting an epidural! I told everybody in the room I could NOT have a baby naturally and I was going to die! Rudy was born at 1:57pm after only 15 minutes of pushing.

The pain was so worth it! He is just precious! Raeleigh would not even look at him when she came to the hospital but after being home with him for about an hour she quickly warmed up!

We have a date!

As long as everything goes as planned (because THAT always happens! NOT!) Rudy will make his debut on Tuesday, January 27th. I am so thrilled to finally have a date to look forward to! I really didn't want to be induced but I am so ready to meet my little man!

Please pray that all goes well for the induction. Also, Raeleigh has been very sick with croup and an ear infection so pray we can get her all better before Rudy arrives on Tuesday.

Raeleigh received her report card today! She met 2 new objectives on her IEP! YAY!! It is also anticipated that she will meet all of her goals and objectives by the end of the school year! I am so proud of my big girl and so thankful she has such great teachers and therapists!!

someone help me!

I am trying to figure out how to add layouts to my blog! I have a new header with text BUT it isn't as big as it should be! I have tried to follow online directions to change the background but so far all I have done is center my blog (which is great because I wanted to do that too!). I really need some help from someone who has done this before! Why won't the direct link I'm putting in the html work for me??

The Waiting Game

Yesterday I began having contractions around 2:15. I tried not to let myself get excited because I thought they would go away. About 7:30 they were 3-4 minutes apart! I decided we should go to the hospital (duh, I know). We got there and my OB checked me but I was only dialated to 1cm and 20% effaced. He didn't act like he was planning to try and stop the labor even though I was only 36 weeks. After being there about an hour the contractions began to get stronger and were 2 minutes apart. He decided to give me Turbutaline to stop the contractions. It worked...for about 15 minutes! After they began again they started an IV and gave me fluids. That slowed them down significantly but did not stop them. I was given the option of going home about midnight so I chose that. My own bed was sounding great by that time!

I hate the waiting game!! I just want to know WHEN HE IS COMING OUT!! If I go on my own again when I am 37 weeks (which is next Wednesday) then he will not stop the labor. I am so anxious to meet my baby boy!

It won't be like this for long...

Maybe it's just my hormones but this song is so perfect for my life right now :) I can't stop crying when I listen to it.
